The Department of Tumor Biology and Genetics is one of the youngest Departments in our University. It was established in July 2020 by the decision of the previous Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw, prof. dr hab. med. Mirosława Wielgoś within the Chair of Pathomorphology, which consists of two Units: Pathomorphology Department and Department of Tumor Biology and Genetics.
The department conducts didactics - the subject of Oncogenetics for students of the 3rd year of the Faculty of Medicine and the English Division (Oncogenetics). The Department also conducts selected lectures, seminars and exercises at the Faculty of Pharmacy as part of the Pathomorphology course (major: Medical Analytics, 2nd year). From academic year 2021/22 we started two courses "Translational research" i "Creating a scientific project and acquisition of funding" for pur PhD students from 1st year of Doctoral School.
In the scientific field, the Department's team conducts advanced genetic research with the use of the latest technologies in solid neoplasms and hematopoietic neoplasms, cooperating with numerous hematology and oncology centers in Poland and around the world.
